Unleashing Amazonian Artistry: Denilson Baniwa's Visionary Journey to Redefine the Americas at the Getty Center.

Overview

The Getty Research Institute invited Amazonian/Brazilian artist Denilson Baniwa to create Reinventing the Américas: Construct. Erase. Repeat.a multimedia exhibition featuring video artworks, murals and colorful displays to challenge European representations of the Americas. The exhibition asked viewers to reexamine the old paradigm of European exceptionalism and the “exotic other."

Challenge

The Getty Research Institute sought to amplify the reach and impact of this exhibition, ensuring it resonated across diverse audiences while integrating digital storytelling to extend engagement beyond the museum space.

Collaboration

Heroic worked closely with the Getty Research Institute to:

  • Develop a Digital Exhibition: Transforming the physical exhibition into an immersive online experience that preserved its artistic integrity.

  • Craft a Marketing Strategy: Creating targeted campaigns to promote the exhibition to global audiences, leveraging digital channels to highlight its cultural significance.

  • Translate the experience into three languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese
